Dr. Agnes G. Reyes is the Director and Chief Scientist of Reyes Geosciences Ltd., bringing over four decades of experience in petrology, fluid geochemistry, and isotope geoscience. She holds a PhD in Geology from Victoria University of Wellington and previously served as Senior Scientist at GNS Science, New Zealand, for 25 years. Her work integrates field investigations, laboratory-based petrological and geochemical analyses, and data synthesis to support the assessment of geothermal resources, hydrocarbon systems, ore deposits, damsites, and geohazards across a wide range of tectonic settings. Dr. Reyes has led and contributed to internationally recognised research and consultancy projects, with extensive peer-reviewed publications and long-standing engagement with industry, government, and academic partners.

  • Impact of natural hazards/pandemics

    1. Earthquakes in the South and North Islands have led to a group of us winning a Marsden in 2013, led by S. Ellis

    2. Pandemic. The impossibility of going to Taiwan during the pandemic has led me to:

      (a) propose and produce several educational videos and

      (b) write a detailed manual on how to sample and analyse fluids. These videos and manual were followed by livestream sampling where I watched and instructed remotely, from Lower Hutt, as scientists collected fluid samples in Taiwan.
